Here are six ideas of things you can do to limit soil erosion on your property:
- Add mulch. An easy way to do this in your yard is to take advantage of grass clippings after mowing the lawn.
- Put down matting (erosion control blankets) on exposed soil.
- Maximize ground cover with year-round living plant roots.
- Use terracing to grow plants on slopes.
- Use canals or pipes to divert water flow from vulnerable areas.
- Build retaining walls.
